Kyrgyzstan, along with other UN countries, in 2016 began to achieve 17 goals in the field of sustainable development. The UN goals are consistent with the goals of the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040.
In 2005, the Kyrgyz Republic declared its commitment to the concept of education for sustainable development (ESD), and since March 2005 joined the implementation of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Strategy on ESD and the UN Decade on ESD, and after 2014 it has implemented Global Action Program on ESD.
The project will be implemented as part of the Global Sustainable Schools Search, which will support the development of sustainable schools in nine countries. The search will further support and expand the work of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, whose goal is to integrate the principles and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and training.
The aim of the project is to increase awareness of sustainable lifestyles among students, teachers and their communities. With population growth, consumption growth, impact on our climate, loss of biodiversity, we must educate our children (students) on how to improve their lifestyle and engage in activities that will contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
